My Latest In Forbes:  CA Democrats Divided Over Race & Gov't Spoils/Should students be judged by the color of their skin or the content of their transcripts?

My Thought For Today:  Gov't start out small and collapse large.  Along the way they seek ever new ways to tax.  There is no end.  Will Durant tell us of Diocletian socialist Rome around 300 AD that "The task of controlling men in economic detail proved too much for Diocletian’s expanding, expensive, and corrupt bureaucracy. To support this officialdom—the army, the court, public works, and the dole—taxation rose to such heights that men lost incentive to work or earn, and an erosive contest began between lawyers finding devices to evade taxes and lawyers formulating laws to prevent evasion."

The 5 Steps in the DOMA Decision That Will Overturn all Traditional Marriage Laws

My goal of  my writing is to place events in historical context - to let you see the part, in light of the whole, as Will Durant would say. With that understanding . . .

I am not surprised with the decision to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act. This nation began as a country in which federal law started where state law ended - not the other way around. States were to be the incubators and center of our laws.

My Thought for Today:  The omnibus Senate Immigration Bill is filled with problems just like ObamaCare was.  The Republicans in the House need to expose those problems if they want to defeat.  They cannot pass something so we can find out what is in it.

CA News: Walters:  Budget won't end fiscal mess

My Latest in Forbes:  California's Anti-Fracking Idealogues Look A Gift Horse In The Mouth -  The world knows of California’s unemployment, spending and budget problems.  With over $1 trillion in public debt, it’s unlikely California will be able to right its fiscal ship.  Amazingly, a giant gift was laid at California’s doorstep in the form of giant oil fields accessible by fracking.  Rather than promote the budget soothing jobs and the tax revenue that comes with it, California Democrats have lined up to stop it.
